Dear Adams Parents and Students,
Adams School will be conducting a “Step-Up Day” where students will be able to meet with their classmates and teacher for the 2017-18 school year. Step-Up Day is set for Wednesday, June 21, from 10:10–10:40am. During that time, students will move from their current homeroom to the classroom of their next year’s teacher. The students will do an introductory activity with their new teacher and classmates.
Class lists will be posted afterschool on Monday, June 19. This year’s teachers and I have worked hard to create class rosters for next year that balance the many characteristics that create a great classroom for students. At the same time, we have used the input that we received from you. It goes without saying that not every placement is exactly what you may have wanted, expected or hoped for, but I assure you that we have worked hard to do our best to create these class lists.
I want to emphasize that our priority is to create classrooms that are balanced academically and socially. My first request of you, the parents, is to support the classroom placement and encourage your child to take on the new adventure with enthusiasm and optimism. If there is a placement concern, you will be able to submit your concern to me in writing, and I will consider changes prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year. I will not make changes to placements prior to or on the morning of June 21; requests to change placements will be reviewed in late summer. Finally, parents should not plan on attending the Step-Up Day session with their child as this is a time for students to meet their new teacher and classmates.
We hope you will find knowing your child’s teacher now to be a relief and provide an opportunity to reach out to next year’s classmates. Your child may find some new “best friends” in their class for next year.
